NPU Marks Medical School Milestone with Mekong River Swim

On May 9, 2026, Nakhon Phanom University, led by President Prof. Emeritus Dr. Tawadchai Suppadit, held a cultural and wellness event along the Mekong River to celebrate the Cabinet’s approval of the university’s new Faculty of Medicine project.
The event began with a traditional ceremony honouring Phaya Sri Satta Nakarat, a revered spiritual symbol of the Mekong region, before participants took part in a five-kilometre swim on the Mekong River to pay respects to Phra That Sri Khottabong in Laos.
Beyond its cultural significance, the activity also promoted physical well-being, community participation, and stronger ties between communities along both sides of the Mekong River.
