FLAS Executives and Students Participate in Volunteer Activity: “Waste Collection and Sorting After the Naga Worship Ceremony”

On Monday, July 14, 2025, Asst. Prof. Dr. Poonatree Jiaviriyaboonya, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Science (FLAS), led a group of executives, students, and researchers in a community volunteer activity at the Naga Monument in Nakhon Phanom. The activity was part of the project titled “Enhancing Naga-Inspired Tourism through the Cultural Diversity of Ethnic Communities along the Mekong River toward Green Economy Development in Nakhon Phanom Province,” funded by the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMU-B). The event involved collecting and sorting waste following the recent Phaya Si Satta Nakharat worship ceremony, with the aim of reusing leftover ceremonial materials into reusable offerings in line with the Zero Waste concept.

This initiative was conducted in collaboration with Nakhon Phanom Municipality, with support from Ms. Ubonrat Chaiphanit, Municipal Clerk; Ms. Pawinee Somonwat, Director of the Health and Environment Division; Ms. Supannee Ladee, Director of Education Administration; and the Acting Director of Municipal School 1 (Nong Saeng), along with teachers and students from the school. Participants took part in waste sorting as both an educational experience and a public awareness campaign, aiming to strengthen cooperation between local government, educational institutions, and the broader community. The activity also highlighted the importance of sustainable waste management at the Naga Monument—a prominent spiritual tourism site that plays a key role in generating employment and income for the people of Nakhon Phanom Province.
