Nakhon Phanom University Collaborates with Vinh University, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on Historical-Cultural Tourism Exchange Project in the Central Mekong Basin, Nakhon Phanom Province

On July 8, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at the Phanommethee Room, 5th Floor, Office of the President, Nakhon Phanom University, Srikhotrabun Campus, Professor Dr. Thawatchai Supadit, Acting President of Nakhon Phanom University, along with the university’s executives and the committee of the Mekong Sub-Region Study Center, welcomed a delegation of executives and students from Vinh University, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Ba Tien, Vice President of Vinh University. The delegation, consisting of over 30 students, participated in a tourism exchange project focusing on history, culture, tradition, and local cuisine in the Central Mekong Basin, Nakhon Phanom Province, scheduled from July 7 to July 17, 2024, at Nakhon Phanom University.

The project is an extension of a collaboration agreement between Nakhon Phanom University and Vinh University to exchange knowledge on historical and cultural tourism, traditions, and local food in the Central Mekong Basin, Nakhon Phanom Province. Discussions also included future collaboration in education, research, and cultural exchanges, such as scholarships for staff and students, Thai-Vietnamese cultural performances, workshops on Vietnamese mathematics teaching methods, and ethnic tourism research, facilitated by the Mekong Sub-Region Study Center at Nakhon Phanom University.

From July 7 to July 17, 2024, activities between the two institutions were led by Assistant Professor Dr. Sorat Praveenwongwut, Director of the Mekong Sub-Region Study Center, in collaboration with the Student Development Division of Nakhon Phanom University. The activities included practical learning experiences in tourism and hotel management, local cuisine, desserts, beverages, and exploring the history, culture, and lifestyles of the diverse people of Nakhon Phanom. The delegation also visited various faculties and organizations such as the College of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Aviation, International Education and Research, the Thai-Vietnamese Association of Nakhon Phanom, and the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Committee.
