Nakhon Phanom University Conducts Merit-Making Ceremony for Mekong Subregion Conference Hall and Officially Opens the Building

On June 25, 2024, at 10:00 AM, on the 3rd floor of the Mekong Subregion Conference Hall (Marukkha Nakorn Campus), Nakhon Phanom University held a merit-making ceremony for the conference hall. The event was presided over by Prof. Dr. Tawadchai Suppadit, Acting President of Nakhon Phanom University, who lit candles and incense to pay homage to the Triple Gem, with nine monks participating in the chanting ceremony. The university administrators, staff, and honored guests from various agencies in Nakhon Phanom Province also offered alms and meals to the monks.

After the religious ceremony, the monks blessed the attendees with holy water. The "TISCO Foundation" also presented a scholarship worth 37,000 baht to Nakhon Phanom University students, represented by Prof. Dr. Tawadchai Suppadit. This event marked the merit-making for the Mekong Subregion Conference Hall, following the morning visit by representatives from government and private sectors in the province to view the newly completed interior of the conference hall, which was ready for use in April 2024. The "Mekong Subregion Conference Hall" spans approximately 30,000 square meters on 20 rai of land, with a construction budget of 400 million baht, making it the largest conference hall in the Upper Northeastern region. It can accommodate up to 3,000 people. The design incorporates the distinctive features of the Srikotraboon Kingdom, harmoniously blending with the local context. The university has also planned an additional landscape improvement budget of 40 million baht from the national budget office for 2025, aiming to enhance the hall's appearance and functionality for hosting international conferences in the future.
