Development of Teaching Model with Working Memory Training based on Educational Neuroscience to Enhance Cognitive Function and Mathematics Achievement of Students
The research objectives were 1) to develop the teaching method focusing on the Working
Memory Training with applying the foundation of educational neuroscience 2) to examine the results of
this teaching method by applying the three comparative studies; 2.1) the comparison between the
experimental group and control group regarding the difference of attention in terms of the accuracy and
speed; 2.2) the comparison of working memory between the experimental group and control group in
terms of the accuracy and speed. and 2.3) the comparison of the learning achievements between the
experimental group and the control group. The research was planned and developed in three phases. Thefirst phase aimed to develop the synthesis of theories and the survey of problems. The second phase
focused on the development of teaching method. The third phase examined the effectiveness of teaching
method. The research findings proposed two important aspects as follows: 1) the developed teaching
method consisting of seven elements focusing on 1.1) the perception and intention relating to the prior
knowledge, the Working Memory Training, the presentation and communication and the creation of the
positive learning environment, 1.2) such teaching method enhanced the students’learning achievements
and students’cognitive skills, 1.3) this teaching procedures were included four important elements: excite,
expand, enhance and expert, 1.4) the social system was the creation of positive learning environment and
the clarifying assignment, 1.5) the principle of the reaction was the creation of competition that rewarded
and reflected to the students, 1.6) the supporting system was the assignments which train the
students Working Memory and 1.7) the qualified assessment was used to evaluate both the students’
learning achievements and the cognitive function. 2) This teaching method increased the students’
accuracy while also enhancing the duration in responding of students’ attention, working memory and
learning achievements.
