The research objectives were: 1) to develop indicators of ethical nursing practice; 2) to examine
the consistency of the developed structural-ethical indicators’ model as for referring to ethical nursing
practice indicators with the empirical data 3) to develop the handbook guiding how to applying the
indicators of ethical nursing practice among nursing students. The study was conducted in three phases.
The first phase aimed to develop a research conceptual framework by conducting literature review,
interviewed seven experts, and developing the ethical nursing practice’ indicators of nursing students by
interviewing twenty-one experts with conducting three rounds of modified Delphi technique. The second
phase examined the consistency of structural ethnical indicators’ model applying for nursing , students
practice with the empirical data. This research employed samplings with 500 nursing instructors and
preceptors. The research instrument was also included five-level rating scaled questionnaires and the data
analysis deriving from LISREL Program—a statistical modeling program as confirming factor analysis. The
third phase developed the handbook of ethical indicators for nursing students and assured its accuracy
and suitability by five experts.
The finding were as follows: 1) The indicators of ethical nursing practice for nursing students
consisted of six main elements, 18 sub-elements and 60 indicators, which were divided into 9 indicators of
honesty, 9 indicators of responsibility, 9 indicators of discipline, and 13 indicators of respect for human
rights, 10 indicators of ethics decision and 10 indicators of attitude toward nursing practice. 2) The
confirmatory factor analysis model of indicators of ethical nursing practice of nursing students had
goodness-of-fit with the empirical data ( 2 =195.84, df =284, p-value =.66, GFI =.95, AGFI = 0.91 RMSEA
=0.000 , CN = 205.29). As for the arrangement of factor loadings of components in descending order, the
results were as follows: 1) respect for human rights (1.00) 2) discipline (1.00) 3) honesty (1.00) 4) attitude
toward nursing practice (.99) 5) responsibility (.98) 6) ethics decision(.97) and 3) The handbook of ethical
nursing practice indicator as a whole were appropriate at the highest level. (=4.56 , S.D.=0.09)
