On April 21, 2026, Nakhon Phanom University held a progress meeting on the development of its new Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Runglawan Iamkusonkij, Vice President for Special Affairs and Quality Assurance and Acting Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. The meeting was held at the Digital Technology Building and attended by Dr. Suppachok Khemala, Assistant Director of Nakhon Phanom Hospital, and members of the curriculum development committee.

The initiative represents a key step in strengthening medical education and healthcare capacity in border areas and the Mekong subregion. Discussions focused on preparing the program for accreditation review, including curriculum validation, documentation, and alignment with Medical Council standards, as well as planning for submission to relevant authorities and the University Council.
