On January 12, 2026, the Faculty of Science, Nakhon Phanom University, in collaboration with the Office of the Education Council and the University of Helsinki, Finland, held a Thai–Finland academic seminar to exchange knowledge and experience in STEM education and area-based educational development.

The seminar was presided over by Prof. Emeritus Dr. Tawadchai Suppadit, President of Nakhon Phanom University, who delivered a keynote address on “The Role and Challenges of Nakhon Phanom University in Area-Based Educational Development.” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cherdchai Phosri, Dean of the Faculty of Science, presented the report at Room 1501, 5th Floor, Faculty of Science, Phanom Burin Campus.

A key highlight was the panel discussion “From Finland to Thailand: The Future of Education,” featuring Prof. Dr. Maija Aksela from the LUMA Centre, University of Helsinki; Mr. Weerapong Ucharoen, Director of the Bureau of Educational Evaluation, Office of the Education Council; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cherdchai Phosri, moderated by Mr. Wissarut Srivarom.

Held as part of an academic collaboration with the LUMA Centre, University of Helsinki, the seminar aimed to strengthen STEM education through the integration of Nature-based Solutions, enhance teacher capacity, and promote sustainable area-based educational development. The event also served as a platform for academic exchange between Thai and Finnish scholars and education partners
