CPIRD Conducts Site Visit to Assess Readiness of Nakhon Phanom Hospital as a Clinical Training Center for NPU

On January 8, 2026, Mr. Adisak Noisuwan, Governor of Nakhon Phanom, welcomed a delegation from the Collaborative Project to Increase Production of Rural Doctors (CPIRD) during a site visit to assess the readiness of Nakhon Phanom Hospital as a clinical training center for Nakhon Phanom University, in line with the standards of the Medical Council of Thailand.
The delegation was led by Dr. Chitsanupong Tangadulrat, Director of CPIRD, and included Dr. Somchai Chomphookham, Nakhon Phanom Provincial Chief Medical Officer; Dr. Apiwat Banditchat, Director of Nakhon Phanom Hospital; and Prof. Emeritus Dr. Tawadchai Suppadit, President of Nakhon Phanom University. The visit also included discussions on preparations for establishing the clinical training center.
The visit forms part of a government initiative, following a Cabinet resolution, to establish a Faculty of Medicine at Nakhon Phanom University, with Nakhon Phanom Hospital designated as the primary clinical training institution to support medical education and address regional healthcare workforce needs.
During the visit, Nakhon Phanom Hospital presented its infrastructure, patient care capacity, faculty readiness, long-term plans, and proposed facility designs to support medical students in years 4–6.
In addition, executives of Nakhon Phanom University led the CPIRD delegation to the Sri Khotrabun Campus to explore plans for the future establishment of the Faculty of Medicine.
