On January 7, 2026, Nakhon Phanom University organized a workshop to promote participation in the School Botanical Garden Program under the Plant Genetic Conservation Project, a Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The event was presided over by Mr. Adisak Noisuwan, Governor of Nakhon Phanom, at the View Khong Meeting Room, Wachirabophit Auditorium, Marukkhanakhon Campus, Nakhon Phanom University.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kornchai Phornlaphatrachakorn, Vice President for Finance, Research, and Academic Services and Director of the RSPG Coordination Centre at Nakhon Phanom University, delivered the report.

As an officially designated coordination center for the project, Nakhon Phanom University aims to raise awareness of plant genetic conservation and strengthen understanding among educational institutions across the province.

The workshop featured a lecture by Dr. Piyarat Parinyapong Chareonsap, Assistant Director of the project, on operational guidelines for school botanical gardens, followed by a panel discussion on implementation approaches and best practices.
