  • Abstract
  •     The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the causal factors influencing student quality in child development centers under local administration organizations in the Northeast region of Thailand, and 2) to verify the goodness-of-fit of the hypothesis model of causal factors with the empirical data. The research was divided into 2 phases. The first phase was building a conceptual framework for research by analyzing relevant documents and research, interviewing with 7 experts and studying the three outstanding child development centers. The second phase was verifying the research hypothesis. Data were collected using a 5 point rating scale questionnaire with the discrimination power values ranging between 0.36 and 0.75 and the overall reliability value of 0.98. The sample was local administration organization administrators, directors of education division and heads of child development centers and child care teachers in child development centers under local administration organizations in the Northeast region of Thailand in academic year 2016 totaling 734 people. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient. The LISREL software was employed to analyze the causal relationship model.
The study yielded the following results: 1) The causal factors influencing student quality in child development centers under local administration organizations in the Northeast region of Thailand comprised 5 factors, namely transformational leadership of local administration organization administrators, community participation in educational management, child development center climate, readiness of educational resources, and teaching behavior of child care. 2) The developed model showed a goodness-of-fit with the empirical data with statistics value as follows: χ2 = 68.08, P-value = 0.58, df = 71, χ2/df = 0.96, RMSEA = 0.00, GFI = 0.99, AGFI = 0.97, largest standardized residual = 1.98. When considering the coefficient of prediction (R2) of the 5 aforementioned causal factors, it was found that they could jointly explain 62 percent of the variance of student quality in child development centers.
