    การนำองค์ความรู้จากภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นด้านสุขภาพโดยหมอพื้นบ้านซึ่งประกอบด้วย หมอยาสมุนไพร หมอมนต์หรือหมอเป่า หมอธรรม หมอสู่ขวัญ หมอมอหรือหมอดู และ เฒ่าจ้ำ มาช่วยในการส่งเสริมสุขภาพจิตของผู้สูงอายุในชุมชน  โดยผสมผสานกับการองค์ความรู้สมัยใหม่ด้านวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ จะมีส่วนช่วยให้ผู้สูงอายุสามารถเข้าถึงบริการด้านสุขภาพจิตได้ง่ายขึ้น อันเป็นผลมาจากหมอพื้นบ้านมีความใกล้ชิดกับชุมชน เป็นที่เคารพเชื่อถือจากบุคคลในชุมชน การส่งเสริมสุขภาพจิตตามแนวคิดนี้จึงเป็นวิธีการที่มีประสิทธิภาพและประสิทธิผล

    The implementation of local wisdom knowledge concerning health by traditional healers comprising herbal medicine practitioners, magical healers, Dhamma healers, blessing healers, fortune tellers, and spirit operators to help promote mental health of older people in the community by combining it with the new knowledge in health science will be easier for older people to access mental health services. This is because the traditional healers are very close to people in the community. They are respected and trusted by people. Mental health promotion according to this concept, then, proves to be an effective and efficient method.
