This study aimed: 1) to investigate the degree of quality of work life and the degree of organizational commitment of Nakhon Phanom University support staff, 2) to examine organizational commitment of Nakhon Phanom University support staff as classified by personal factors, and 3) to inquire to the relationship between quality of work life and organizational commitment of Nakhon Phanom University support staff. A sample group of this study was 121 support staff members. The tool used was a 5-rating scale questionnaire which had discrimination power values ranging from 0.6 to 1.0 and a reliability coefficient of 0.95. Data analysis was conducted using percentage, mean, standard deviation and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Results of the study revealed as follows: 1) Quality of work life of the support staff as a whole was at moderate level. Considering as each aspect, the aspect that gained the highest mean score was of being proud of the organization and the one that gained the lowest mean score was of safe and hygienic environment; whereas organizational commitment of the support staff as a whole was at high level. Considering as each aspect, the aspect that gained the highest mean score was of commitment to norms of society and organization, followed by the aspect of commitment to feeling and acceptance. The aspect that gained the lowest mean score was of commitment to continuity and dedication. The organizational commitment of support staff as classified by personal factors of sex, age, education, work experience, job position and income was found not different, while classified by marital status and agency affiliated with, organizational commitment was found significantly different at the .01 level. 3) Quality of work life as a whole and organizational commitment were positively and significantly correlated at the .01 level (r = .578). When the relationship between each aspect of quality of work life and organizational commitment was considered, the aspect of being proud of the organization (r = .485) had more relationship with it than other aspects, followed by the aspect of good relationship in working together (r = .465); whereas the aspect that had less relationship with it than other aspects was that of job advancement and security (r = .285). |
