    โลกเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรวดเร็วในทุกมิติ เป็นผลให้คนต้องปรับเปลี่ยนตนเองไปด้วย สำาหรับวิชาชีพครู สังคมคาดหวังให้ครูปฏิบัติหน้าที่อย่างมืออาชีพ กล่าวคือ มีความรอบรู้ มีความสามารถและศักยภาพในด้านนวัตกรรมการสอน รักในอาชีพ และมีจิตวิญญาณความเป็นครูในบรรดาคุณลักษณะของครูมืออาชีพข้างต้น จิตวิญญาณความเป็นครูจัดว่าเป็นคุณลักษณะที่สำคัญยิ่งทั้งนี้เพราะการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ด้วยจิตวิญญาณเป็นการทำหน้าที่ด้วยใจซึ่งทำให้เกิดความรัก ศรัทธาและยึดมั่นในอุดมการณ์แห่งวิชาชีพ มุ่งมั่น ทุ่มเทในการทำางาน ประพฤติตนเป็นแบบอย่างที่ดี เอาใจใส่ ดูแลและหวังดีต่อศิษย์ เมื่อครูทำางานด้วยจิตวิญญาณความเป็นครู แน่นอนว่าศิษย์ซึ่งเป็นผลผลิตของครูย่อมมีคุณลักษณะตามที่สังคมต้องการ และครูที่ทำาเช่นนั้นก็จัดว่าเป็นครูมืออาชีพ

    While the world is changing rapidly in every dimension, all the people have to adjust themselves accordingly to any change in order to catch up with the fast-changing world. As for the teaching profession, the society expects all teachers to perform their tasks professionally without exception. That is to say, teachers must be knowledgeable, possess ability and be potential in employing teaching innovation, love their professional career and possess the spirituality of teachers. Among the characteristics of professional teachers above, the spirituality of teachers is considered
to be a vital one. It is because teachers’ performance of duty with spirituality is the way to carrying out their tasks with heart which will lead to affection, faith and adherence to the professional ideals, earnestness, devotion of themselves to their work, behaving themselves as a role model, empathy, caring and wish good for their students. As a result, students taught by such teachers will possess desirable characteristics, and teachers who have these characteristics and perform their duty in this way can be counted as professional teachers.
