ABSTRACT
The purposes of this study were: 1) to investigate self-conduct according to the code of professional ethics
of school administrators, 2) to compare self-conduct according to the code of professional ethics of school
administrators in Thatphanom district under Office of Nakhon Phanom Primary Education Service Area 1 based on
the opinion of respondents as classified by status and school size. The sample of 180 people included 38 school
administrators and 142 teachers in Thatphanom district under Office of Nakhon Phanom Primary Education
Service Area 1. The sample size was determined based on the percentage criteria. The criterion of 80 percent
sample size was employed for school administrators while for the teachers the criterion used was of 30 percent
sample size. The sample was selected by stratified random sampling. The instrument used was a 5-rating scale
questionnaire whose discrimination power values ranged between 0.42 and 0.86 and entire reliability value was
0.97. Statistics used to analyze data were percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test of independent samples
and one-way ANOVA (F-test).
The findings were as follows. 1) The self-conduct according to the code of professional ethics of school
administrators as a whole was at high level. Considering it by aspect, all of them were at high level. 2) School
administrators and teachers had no difference in their opinion on self-conduct according to the code of
professional ethics of school administrators as a whole. Considering it by aspect, the aspect of rule of conduct for
society was found significantly different at the .05 level. The school administrators’ opinion was found at higher
level than that of the teachers. 3) School administrators and teachers had no difference in their overall opinion
on self-conduct according to the code of professional ethics of school administrators. Considering it by aspect, it
was found significantly different at the .05 level in the aspect of self-conduct according to the code of
professional ethics of school administrators for clients. In this aspect, school administrators and teachers in the
large-sized schools had their higher level of opinion than that expressed by those school administrators and
teachers in both the small-sized and the medium-sized schools. School administrators and teachers in the largesized
schools had their higher level of opinion than that expressed by those school administrators and teachers in
the medium-sized schools in the aspect of self-conduct according to the code of professional ethics of school
administrators for professional fellow workers.
