ABSTRACT
The purposes of this study were: 1) to investigate a degree of operating the school-based approach of
reform to learning the environment in primary schools under Office of Nakhon Phanom Primary Education Service
Area 1 and 2) to compare opinion on operating the school-based approach of reform to learning the environment
in primary schools as classified by status and school size. A sample selected by stratified random sampling in this
study was a total of 487 administrators and teachers comprising 156 administrators and 33 teachers. The sample
size was determined using Krejcie and Morgan’s table. The instrument used for collecting data was a 5–rating
scale questionnaire whose discrimination power values ranged between 0.33 and 0.69 and reliability value was
.94. Statistics used to analyze data were percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test of independent samples for
hypothesis testing and one-way ANOVA. In case a significant difference was found, the pairwise comparison using
the Scheffe’s test was made.
The findings of study disclosed as follows: operating the school-based approach of reform to learning the
environment in primary schools as a whole was at high level. The respondents whose statuses were different had
a significant difference in their opinion on operating the school-based approach of reform to learning the
environment at the .01 level. As considered by school size, the respondents’ opinions were not found
significantly different.
