Abstract
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare the promotion of academic knowledge given to
the community by schools affiliated with Nakhon Phanom Municipality, Nakhon Phanom province according to
the sample as classified by school size and work experience. A sample of 129 people was selected by stratified
random sampling. The instrument used was a 5-rating scale questionnaire whose discrimination power values
ranged between 0.326 and 0.750 and reliability value was 0.953. Statistics used were percentage, mean, standard
deviation, and one-way ANOVA (F-test).
The findings showed as follows: 1) the promotion of academic knowledge given to the community as a
whole was at high level. The aspect that gained the highest mean score was the promotion of exchange in
learning and experience between persons, families, communities and localities. The aspect that gained the lowest
mean score was the promotion of studying, surveying the needs and giving an academic support to the
community; 2) a comparison of promoting academic knowledge to the community by schools affiliated with
Nakhon Phanom Municipality, Nakhon Phanom province as classified according to the school size was found that
the aspect of studying, surveying the needs and giving an academic support to the community, the aspect of
promoting the local people in the community to participate in academic activity of schools offered by individuals,
families, organizations, work units and other institutions of study and the aspect of promoting an exchange of
learning and experience between people, families, communities, localities were found significantly different at the
.05 level. Those respondents in the extra large-sized and medium-sized schools had their higher level of opinion
on the promotion of academic knowledge than that expressed by those respondents in the large-sized schools.
As classified by work experience of the respondents, the aspect of providing knowledge, enhancement of the
thinking, technique, academic skill for developing the professional skill and life quality of people in the local
community, and the aspect of promoting people in the local community to participate in academic activity of
schools offered by individuals, families, organizations, work units and other institutions of study were found
significantly different at the .05 level. The respondents whose work experience was over 10 years had a higher
level of opinion on the promotion of academic knowledge than that expressed by those respondents whose
work experience ranged from 5 to 10 years. The respondents whose work experience ranged from 5 to 10 years
had a higher level of opinion than that expressed by those whose work experience was lower than 5 years.
