Abstract
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to investigate the states, problems, and effectiveness of the internal supervision
of the schools under Muang Nakhon Phanom Municipality. The sample of 130 people consisted of 36 supervisors
and 94 supervisees selected by multi-stage random sampling. The instrument used to collect the data was a rating
scale questionnaire comprising 3 parts. The first part was about the states of the supervision which had the
discrimination power between 0.48 and 0.85 and the reliability of 0.98. The second part was about the problems of
the supervision which had the discrimination power between 0.56 and 0.90 and the reliability of 0.98. The third part
was about the effectiveness of the supervision which had the discrimination power between 0.64 and 0.86 and the
reliability of 0.99. The data were computerized using SPSS for Windows. The statistics used to analyze the data
included percentages, means, standard deviations, t-test (Independent Samples), and F-test (One-way ANOVA).
Results of the study revealed the following: 1) The overall states, problems and effectiveness of the supervision of
the schools under Muang Nakhon Phanom Municipality were at the moderate level. 2) The overall states and
effectiveness of the supervision of the schools under Muang Nakhon Phanom Municipality, according to the opinions
of the supervisors and supervisees, showed a statistically significant difference at the .01 level. 3) The overall
problems of the internal supervision of the schools under Muang Nakhon Phanom Municipality, according to the
opinions of the supervisors and supervisees, were not different. 4) The overall states of the internal supervision of the
schools under Muang Nakhon Phanom Municipality, classified by sizes of schools, were not different. 5) The overall
problems of the internal supervision between medium-sized and large-sized schools under Muang Nakhon Phanom
Municipality were significantly different at the .05 level. However, there was no difference between small-sized and
medium-sized schools and between small-sized and large-sized schools. 6) The overall effectiveness of the internal
supervision between small-sized and medium-sized schools and between medium-sized and large-sized schools
under Muang Nakhon Phanom Municipality were significantly different at the .05 level. However, there was no
difference between small-sized and large-sized schools. 7) Suggested guidelines for developing the internal
supervision of the schools under Muang Nakhon Phanom Municipality were already included in the study: educating
the supervisees before the supervision, conducting the supervision, and evaluating the supervision.
